I started by reading about our digestive system and also watched videos on it. Here, I'd like to toss a few medical terms for you that I've learned -- they are peristalsis, internal and external anal sphincters, etc. Where peristalsis is a process that causes the food's movement in our intestines (small and large): so the waste accumulates in our rectum thanks to peristalsis -- if piled-up waste is enough that creates pressure resulting in the opening of the internal anal sphincter -- thus we get the urge that "it's time to go," but the external anal sphincter helps us refrain the pressure: it acts as a door to the house if someone knocks, it's upon us whether to open or not.
This explanation was satisfying to me, but seldom I used to take long time on the toilet (the confusion hadn't gone). So, I asked the doctor about it, he said he would recommend finishing within 10 minutes. This I took to heart, every time I was making sure I didn't take more than 10 minutes, but sometimes I had to, and when I did: my day went in despair.
One day I was mulling over this question, and a revelation came to me, it said: “It isn't how much time you spend on the toilet -- it's how much time you take to push the stool out.” It implies, harder the stool, the longer you hold your breath -- you strain, the longer you hold your breath the more the chances of developing hemorrhoids or an anal fissure.
Advisory: If your stool is hard, then you should force itself out -- giving up on straining at that moment will make it harder. And I'm not implying that you get the stool out with one breath.

I have my medical examination in upcoming month..I got 2 fissure , one is healed but the skin still seems uneven and another one iam treating....if I treat it carefully with proper diet as you have mention then will it will be healed and even ? Because iam worried the person examining might confuse it with piles..since the skin is uneven
ReplyDeleteYou should put an end to your worries. The person won't confuse it with piles. It could be a sentinel skin tag or anal papilla. They know the difference between them and piles. The link below describes them. I'm sorry, Sarah, for replying late.

I have had this problem of fissure since past 4 months I consulted a doctor who prescribed me stool softener, aclofenac and nifedipine ointment and complete diet change. I took medicines for around 15 days when my pain had gone the doctor asked me to discontinue medications except stool softener(which now I take on alternate days). But now whenever I pass hard stools or have to strain a lot I have pain though it's not as severe as it used to be I am able to perform my daily activities but I don't understand when this will completely heal.what should I do that this heals completely.
ReplyDeleteplease tell me is your fissure healed because I am in same situation ,its been 15 days since I started treatment and my pain had gone so my doctor have given me calcium blocker ointment, laxative and ulcer medicine, but still I fill tightness around my anus, how many days it will take to fully heal?.
